Online Comprehension and Evaluation
This week we will focus on how we read differently when we are on the internet. We will discuss strategies we use when reading websites. Some questions to guide our discussion will include:
  • Do you read all of the text on the page?
  • How do you use pictures to help you read?
  • What do you look for on the homepage of a website?
  • How do you choose what links to click?
We will refer to this Online Comprehension Strategies Diagram from readwritethink.org when evaluating websites.

We will also use the Is This a Hoax? checklist from mediasmarts.ca for our evaluation practice.
